What’s On Your Bookshelf? Exploring suspense with Zoe from What’s Better Than Books

I met my guest blogger late last year when putting together the blog tour for Kay Hunter’s first investigation, Scared to Death.

Zoe from What’s Better Than Books has a great blog that's going from strength to strength, reviewing books from all different genres, and connecting authors and readers from all over the world.

With October being “Canada month” on my blog to tie in with my trip to Bouchercon in Toronto, and a seminar at Nanaimo’s Literacy Central on Vancouver Island in a few weeks’ time, I thought it’d be perfect timing to invite Zoe over and have a chat about what’s on her bookshelf.

Zoe – welcome to the blog!

What are you currently reading?

I’m currently reading Little Secrets by Anna Snoekstra.

This is a book I won through a Goodreads Giveaway and received from Harlequin. It’s due to be published on October 17th.

What’s new and caught your eye?

I’m really excited to read The Child Finder by Rene Denfield.

Her previous novel The Enchanted blew me away. It was so dark and gritty in nature but her writing so poetic and atmospheric that you couldn’t help but sympathize with even the most horrific of characters and I’m intrigued to see if that’s the case once again.

Tell us about a book you’ve been wanting to read, but haven’t yet

Oh my goodness, there’s so many, but one that I definitely keep hoping to read sooner rather than later is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. I keep hearing so many good things about this novel and even though I really enjoy contemporary romance and mystery/suspense novels, historical fiction is actually my favourite genre

Finally, please tell us about an old favourite

I think I might not be alone on this, but my all-time favourite would have to be the classic love story, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Mr. Darcy is just too swoon-worthy to ever forget.
