Just got the proofs back from Mrs W, proof-reader extraordinaire.
Despite having a sub-editing background, I appreciate the importance of having ‘new eyes’ take a look at the White Gold manuscript before it goes live. Having lived with the novel for over a year now, I’ve become “blooper blind” so having a professional proof-reader take a look made a lot of sense.
Thank goodness I did. Money well spent! Not too many errors but they would have annoyed the hell out of me if I’d seen them after the book is published next month. Sentences tightened, driving the action forward and simple suggestions that have made all the difference to the story.
Next up, a final draft. And then another print out and a read through, maybe another edit before I unleash it on an unsuspecting world.
