Here it is then - the final post for Queensland Writers Week!

The last push today generated 2,503 words which takes me just over my 10,000 word target.

What have I learned from this week? Well, one - there's nothing like making a goal public to get yourself motivated; two - never doubt the effect of the support of friends to get you to that goal; and three - sometimes what seems like a formidable task at the beginning of the week actually isn't so bad!

Thanks again to everyone who provided messages of support through Facebook or my contact page on this website - you really did help!

It's the final push this weekend to hit my 10,000 word target and it's been a very productive day - 2,106 words!

I also managed to fit in a couple of hours' research too. Some of the text I've been writing has enabled me to join scenes together and fill in some gaps, with the rest being a new scene that I'll continue with tomorrow. Can't believe it's the end of the week already!

On Day 1, I did have a moment of 'what have I done?!' but, looking back at this point, I'm really glad I took up this challenge.

I've done another 983 words today and have managed to 'join the dots' as far as three scenes go. As they're in the middle of the story, this week has been invaluable - I've now got 2 days to go to hit my 10,000 word target but I've got a greater sense of direction. I've been forced to sit down and research and yes, sometimes I really haven't felt like it, but the story has finally taken on a life of it's own and I'm just chasing after it!

Two more days to go!

Almost at the halfway mark now - another 1,042 words today and things are
hotting up in the sequel!

Not only have I got a step closer to my 10,000 word target for the week but I've also reviewed the overall plot plan. This has helped enormously because now I'll be able to continue the momentum after this week's challenge.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and support via my Facebook page - it really is appreciated. Time to go and do some more research now - see you tomorrow!

What's the strangest location you've written in?

Today, I've written 545 words - thank goodness for mobile phones because that was all written while I was stuck at the train station this morning waiting to get to work! I've just finished typing it all up and it's looking good. Not as many words today as I'd hoped but I'm well on target - only 6,620 to go and there's still a whole weekend ahead of me!

I'm going to spend some time now planning some scenes so I don't have to worry about what to write tomorrow...

Whew! Just finished a very productive hour taking part in tonight's AWM Online Writing Race.  Another 1,474 words towards my target of 10,000. I've left the writing in the middle of a full-on chase scene so I've got something exciting to look forward to tomorrow. Off to do a bit more research now so I'll have plenty of inspiration if I get a bit stuck later in the week.

Until tomorrow then...

I started my 10,000 word goal today and have got 1,361 words under my belt so far. A little less than I'd hoped but it's a start. I've just spent a couple of hours doing some research as well, so I've got plenty of inspiration for the rest of the week.

Wish me luck!

This month marks the return of Queensland Writers Week and as part of the festivities, I'm going to be committing myself to producing 10,000 words to the sequel to White Gold.

If you'd like to join me, drop me a line about your writing project via my contacts page. I'll be blogging about the experience from Monday 12 October...

Good luck!
